How To: Level a Picture
Goal: hang a picture, frame, mirror, or shelf so it is truly level.
The tool: the measurement window's spirit level. For two cubes side by side it reads Horizontal, with the bubble drifting toward the higher side and centering when both are at the same height. The ANGLE field confirms it in degrees.
What you need
Two cubes, placed at the two top corners of the picture (or the two ends of a shelf).
Steps
- Press Start, then turn on the pivot point.
- Pinch‑drag the first cube so its center sits at the top‑left corner of the frame (or where that corner will be on the wall).
- Look at your cube from multiple angles because depth can be deceiving.
- Press Spawn Cube and place the second cube's center at the top‑right corner.
- Find the measurement window on the line between them and look at the LEVEL / Horizontal card.
- Adjust the real frame — nudge one side up or down — and watch the readings update:
- The bubble slides toward the higher corner.
- The ANGLE shows how many degrees off level you are.
- Stop when the bubble is centered and ANGLE reads about 0.000°. The picture is level.
Tips
- The bubble is most sensitive in the last few degrees (it reaches the tube's end at about 3° off), so use it for fine‑tuning and trust ANGLE for larger tilts.
- If the two cubes end up nearly stacked, the level switches to Vertical (plumb) — for a picture, keep them side by side so it stays Horizontal.
- Check the AXIS BREAKDOWN: when level, the Y separation between the two corners should read about zero.
