The first time a Wraith suffers Ossification, one die is lost from all physical rolls. The second time, one die is lost from all mental rolls. The third, a further die is lost from all physical and mental rolls, and this happens with each subsequent Ossification.

If a Wraith's Ossification should ever equal her highest physical stat, she's paralyzed. If a Wraith's Ossification should ever equal her highest mental stat, she's both paralyzed and catatonic, at which point the Wraith is said to be Ossified (and the Order collects them for safekeeping).

Symptoms of Ossification can take the form of: grey cobwebs, constrictive clothing, restrictive bandages, chains, madhouse restraints, bondage gear, or just having your skin turn gray, like a stone statue. As it gets worse, the Wraith's skin seems to turn into flaky, gray stone, or off-white marble in patches that seem to grow and recede as one watches them. A completely Ossified Wraith looks like a statue covered in webs, bandages, or restraints.

Ossification Triggers:

A storyteller may call for an Ossification roll if the Wraith

* Goes below half of her Essence pool, rounding up, depending on how that Essence is being spent

* Goes below half of her temporary Willpower, rounding up

* Spends Willpower on a roll, and fails

A storyteller SHOULD call for an Ossification roll if the Wraith

* Has no Essence in her pool

* Has no temporary Willpower left

* Spends Willpower on a roll, and has a dramatic failure

Roll: Resolve + Composure - amount of temporary Willpower away from maximum. The Shadow may spend Tainted Essence to take dice away from the Wraith (equal to Angst).

Exceptional Success: Nothing happens, and the Wraith gets all her Willpower back.

Success: Nothing happens.

Failure: The Wraith suffers one level of Ossification.

Dramatic Failure: The Wraith suffers two levels of Ossification.

Healing Ossification:

* Pity Party/Pity Fuck - receives 25 complimentary essence at once

* Gets all Willpower back by Virtue

* Gets more Willpower back by Vice, and fill ups her Essence pool at same time

* Gets a new, permanent Anchor

Wraiths do NOT get out of it by getting Willpower back at the end of the story. This has to be worked through and earned. Further, Wraiths get their Willpower back -1 for each step of Ossification they're currently at.
