Action: Measure Distance Between Cubes

To measure a distance, place two cubes and read the window on the line between them. There is no separate "measure" mode — every pair of cubes is measured all the time.

Steps

  1. Have at least two cubes in the scene (Start gives you one; Spawn Cube adds more).
  2. Place the first cube so its center (pivot point) sits on one end of what you want to measure.
  3. Place the second cube's center on the other end.
  4. Read the measurement window floating over the middle of the line between them.

What you get

The measurement window shows the straight‑line distance between the two cube centers in three unit styles at once — metric, decimal imperial, and fractional imperial to 1/64 inch — plus:

  • Axis Breakdown — how far apart the cubes are along X, Y, and Z separately. The Y row is the pure height difference.
  • Angle, Slope, Pitch — the tilt of the line (see Action - Use the Spirit Level, Slope, and Pitch).
  • A spirit level for checking level or plumb.

See Reading a Measurement Window for a full tour of every field, and Units and Precision for how the numbers are rounded.

Measuring more than two points

Every pair of cubes gets its own line and window. Three cubes give you three distances (a triangle); four give six, and so on. To keep a busy scene readable, minimize windows you are not using, or press Isolate Measurements to show only the distance windows (see Action - Show, Hide, and Isolate Windows).

Finding a midpoint

Each measurement line carries small markers at its 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 points. The middle one is the exact midpoint between the two cubes — handy for finding centers (see How To - Find a Deck Center).

Accuracy

Distances run center to center (see Concept - Pivot Point), so accuracy comes down to how carefully you place each center on your target and how well the headset is tracking your immersive space. Place slowly, use the pivot point, and check again from a second angle.
